2 nuts that hold wiper motor shafts thru the hood? size?

installing a used vw 12 volt wiper motor on my dune buggy guys.does anyone know what size the 2 big nuts r that hold the wiper motor shafts thru the hood.on the outside of the hood.the shafts had no nuts on mine.everything on this build had no nuts and bolts!!... thanx
