this is exactly why you don't sell good buses ....wouldn't a removable wrap served the same purpose without complete destruction of something amazing ?Very Happy

Done an amazing job mate!!!

Too the people who are hating on a guy who bought a bus and did what he wanted to it to should go and get bent. He has done what he wants with what is his and from what i can see doesnt give 2 ##### about it. Yet you losers are all there awww see what happens when you sell a nice bus bla bla bla. You should of spent your money on it and saved it from what you didnt like. You people really need to get over it, better having a nice new paint job and out on the road then in some shed doing shit all!!!

Hi there BD Mike, do you have any closer up shots of your rack from the inside and outside? Thanks Morts.

Hey Morts , I have a small picture from a magazine .
I do not have bigger photo's myself right now .
Roof had a big hole cut into it , in the 70's or 80's .
Not wanting to put in a sunroof , I made myself a rack out of heating tubing .
Welded a 1,2 mm sheet metal plate and made some Aluminum- bows with 6mm threads to secure the hardwood slats .
On the inside , there are 2 square tubes , for straightening .
Nothing to show on the inside , cause of insulation and I fabricated an Aluminum headliner .

Thanks for asking , Mike

Thanks for that - I think I get it, its just a bit hard to tell from the pic.

So you made the rack, then the 1.2 mm sheet - is that on the top side of the roof, the underside or has it been butt welded in? Then the timber is screw fixed directly to the roof/new sheeting and into the aluminium bows underneath the sheet??

I have a '67 Canterbury Pitt camper and don't use the pop top very often and am considering a bigger rack than just the front one we put on in front of the pop top when we go away.
If you do get a chance to put up a few bigger pics including the inside that would definitely be much appreciated.

Made the lower tubing first , folded the roof sheetmetal around the tube on the inside and welded in place .
Then I welded the little towers and the second tubing . Afterwards put in the 1,2 mm sheet on top of the first tubing and welded it shut . Drilled holes to accommodate some m6 nuts .
Made the 6 mm aluminum-bows with tapered holes for the wooden slats .
I can remove the aluminum and wood in an hour or so , to clean ( not doing that eery time ) Embarassed
