Especially at the prices they were originally sold at!!!! 
But yes, they were excellent tires. Especially for out here in the desert. Radial casings would be fine. The fronts are now duplicated by Mickey Thompson brand as the "Mini-Mag". Those rears are not available. Nor are the original Gates XT Commando tires these were developed from, nor the Sand Blaster 915s that I still have on my Hi Jumper buggy. All excellent tires. The very 1st offroad tires I bought back in the early 70s were a pair of Gates Air Float Commandos. They were great as well.

Not a lot to show these past few day, just a ton of blocking and wet sanding. I did do a headliner clip delete. So I will be painting the interior.
Blocked with 180 and primed again, then wet sanded with 400
Headliner clip delete

and now we have a white baja. Dad decided he just wanted a solid color. So the main body will be white and the bumpers, rack , steps, and roll bar will be black

Well got the ol girl on the lift and removed the drive train. Plan is to just clean and replace what is worn. I will have to rebuild the front end the king pins are wobbly. I also have new brakes. I just cleaned and put a new fresh coat of paint on the trans. I asked the previous owner who installed the trans about the gear ratio. I am hoping to get some info on that soon if he remembers. It does have long axles and type 3 drums, so the bigger pad is a bonus.
I sprayed front and rear area with Raptor coating. it turned out great.

Thanks for all the kind words!
Well I finished spraying the bottom of the heater channels and the backs of the kit. If I get a good burst of energy I might have a roller by this weekend.
I really like the look of the bar sprayed with the Upol I am thinking that this is what I will do with the front bumper ,rear cage, side bars and roll bar.
I got the fenders mounted.
also cleaned and painted the frame horns and spring plates.
also got the parts in to rebuild the spindles

Well still chipping away at the ol girl.
Got the shift rod bushing replaced, I also replaced the shift rod, it had a later model in it and it took me forever to get the shift couple off. Front beam is mounted and trans is now in. Also replaced the brake lines and installed a dual master cylinders.
My youngest and oldest getting some garage time in.

Solid mounts really don’t bother me. I have had more cars solid mounted than I have had that had stock mounts. Most of my cars have had big motors and loud exhaust as well. Other than feeling the vibration at the shifter once you add a 2 liter, IDA’s or IDF’s and a loud exhaust I really can’t tell the difference.

Could sure use braces to the motor mount saddle or the yokes. As well as a strap over the mid-front of the trans to prevent nose cone breakage.

This area is a concern for rust. See the yellow arrow:
I suggest you make a fairly large hole in the bottom of that square piece to let water, mud, dirt, road debris out of that pocket.
