Maybe just enjoy whatever time we have left, make it easy. I heard the term comfort care several times, assume it’s same. Regardless of opinions the end is the same.

A couple years back I had brought a ton and a half of coal home and was franticly shovelling it into the coal bin on the hay shed trying to beat the setting sun. It had been a hot day and I was sweating profusely. My wife came out to see what was holding me up from going to bed. She watched me for a minute then said:

" You know, a guy your age and shape could have a heart attack working like that!"

I stopped and considered "Ya" I said "And how would I notice it happened? It would be the same either place!"

True story! Laughing

The definition of insanity is making the same mistake over and over and expecting different results!

Sorry! You set this one up for me and I couldn't resist! Razz Nice sized family by the way, lots of good memories I'm sure.

All joking aside I sincerly hope that death will in the end be well worth it too but... excuse me if I pass on going through it 15 times! Very Happy

Unless of course a drug overdose is your choice of exit.

Wait until you get to make final life decisions for someone who cannot do it for themselves. BTW, “comfort measures” is PC for upping the dosage until they die.

TDCTDI - If that's what you think comfort measures means, they you must agree that all there is to a car is to put gas in it and it goes.

Sorry to disagree with you but it's a whole lot more complicated than that, physically, emotionally, psychologically, etc. both for the dying and the living.

Whether you choose to admit it to yourself or not, that is exactly what it is. The body builds up a tolerance to the drugs so the dosages have to be increased for the person to remain “comfortable” as they slip into a drug induced coma & the body eventually shuts down. No one wants to go out writhing in pain any more than their loved ones want to watch it. It is what it is.

I'm not going to entertain the topic of comfort measures in this forum. I'm sorry if that has been your experience with "comfort measures." Having been in healthcare for 30 years, both at the bedside and in management, it hasn't been my experience.

And I'm not going to tell someone how to do body work on a car. I have done some in the past and didn't have a good experience. I know what I don't know and body work is one of those things.

Better have a plan for what happens to all those cars if you unexpectedly exit this world.

Earlier this year picked up two free cars and several hundred dollars worth of parts from a barn. Previous owner died, his wife was clearing the property. 12 cars went to the crusher, as well as nearly a whole barn worth of parts. A fellow restorer rented a Uhaul and filled it to the brim with parts, and there were still probably four or five trailer's worth of parts that just got thrown away. Mad

... so much for good plans - bought another VW yesterday. A 1960 bug... older ones are getting hard to find - that really has changed.

This has changed too. The tach on my Buggy started acting erratically so I went to my local NAPA store for a new one.

They don't stock them! Nobody stocks simple tachometers anymore apparently. You used to be able to get them everywhere, parts suppliers, speed shops, Walmart for heaven's sake! Most places would have a line up of them on display. Now it's a special order thing.

went to a (boring) American car salvage and bought this 4 cylinder Pinto tach for $10 and installed it in the clock position of my '68 Westy...
