I recently lost the nut that attaches to the bolt that is the pivot bolt for the Alternator for my 77 bus. The bolt has a rounded head with one flat side and rests behind the Alternator belt. I need to buy another nut and try to thread on to the bolt.
Anyone know this nut size? _________________ 1972 VW Westy (Hit by dumptruck)

Pretty sure most of the hardware down there is M8x1.25. _________________ Jimmy

X2- its the adjuster nut that's hard to find- so basically- any old nut will do. (in that thread) - as long as you tighten it when the adjustment is done- a dab of silicone on the threads will help hold it in place and won't "lock " it to tight to loosen for future adjustments. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Buying a flange nut will eliminate the need for a washer under the nut. Sounds like you may have had an acorn nut to begin with, this would be unnecessary unless someone was just trying to keep road salts away from the threads. |
