The hardware store here has a selection of them in the isle with all the strange bolts and nuts.

It's called a Woodruff key, that might help you find it.

I think it's the same as a beetle gen pulley.

Axactly, the "keyway" is the spot on the shaft that the woodruff key fits into.

Did you loose yours, or was it getting wobbly or loose. If it was getting loose, get a new woodruff key, pulley and a tube of Loctite bearing retainer. squirt the Loctite in the key way, on the key and on the generator shaft, only where the front pulley will go. Let it cure, then install the gen belt. It will get many more miles out of a gen with a slopped out keyway. Its semi permanent, but a little heat, will allow it to release.

However, if you just lost the key, disregard the Loctite part.
