I recently acquired a free 72 bay that included a full length middle seat. What are these seats worth? I heard they are more rare then the busses. I plan on keeping this but just wondering.

I’ve never thought the full length was a good idea, but most people don’t give a damn what I think. That said, I imagine yours is worth anywhere from $300-425

Also for your amusement...

I think they are cool if you drive a taxi. Never cared for them for my own bus though.

I think they are cool if you can make it a 9 person passenger van. If you have a walkthrough though, meh. Then they are just kind of a hassle. I like having no middle seat at all. So much room for activities!

This must be the least expensive one I’ve ever seen. I feel like they’re usually going for $800-$1000.

These are in demand for folks like me who wish to restore a 9-passenger bus to its former glory ( see http://vw.tauxe.net/jellybean )

I would also have said about $800-$1000, depending on its condition.

Even rarer than the seat is the middle seat belts, which have special plastic sleeves to keep them from ending up in a pile on the floor.

For what it's worth, your seat appears to be 1972 or earlier, based on the lack of headrest holes and the round release knob.

Speaking of middle seats... check out this ad. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a middle seat without an armrest. What’s the story?

I agree.

I have a bunch of middle seat seat belt sets, but no one will buy them (well, last time I tried anyway)

seems most got pitched/cut when the seat was removed. they are kind of a pain in the ass truth be told.

honestly, I don't see these seats getting the $$ split seats get....seems more bays get used as campers etc.

I had a 2/3 middle seat for sale a while ago. needed work. couldn't get 100 for it so me being in one of my "moods" vwpieces and I hauled it to the dump.

Someone had a hacksaw and a better idea, the stub of the support tube is still visible.

Yes the bus is a 1972 I pulled out of a field - https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=703335&highlight=

I do have the middle seatbelts too with that plastic sleeve around them.

Yep! Now I see it. I mistook that for a tear in the vinyl.

Many bay middle seats get bought buy split bus owners wanting a seat for their bus. They can be modified to fit a split, and upholstered to match. Not correct, but much cheaper that the real deal. Most folks don't give a shit about correct.

The seat in question would be a $250-$400 seat in the West. Less if it were a 2/3 version.
