Do a search here - there are several threads - one nine page long.

Also do a web search for various versions of the build manuals.
Really cool car - congrats for finding one. _________________ CMC '57 Porsche Speedster Replica and Dolphin boat tailed full pan VW MOD-T Street Buggy |

Vince you are too kind.
Yes, it was by far the most complicated build I have ever done. The doors themselves took hundreds of hours to get to close right and for the windows to work correctly. They had to be heavily strengthened with 1" square tube (they are merely fiberglass shells) and steel plate just to make them close correctly. They needed door handles to be fabricated to work with the old striker system. Even the door latches needed to be modified.
Then there was the two hatches. Those also needed hours and hours to make them line up correctly and close correctly.
That car burnt me out. I sold an Aztec 7 that was unfinished because of the Avenger and have stuck with buggies. My Deserter is FINALLY ready for paint. I gave it its last bath today and the spray booth is going up right after soccer season (13-0 with a 74-3 goals for/against figure). 5 more games for the first perfect season in school history.
The car will be there...my son's senior year won't be for long. |

I have been doing body work on mine for a few weeks now.The doors on these monsters are really tough,I was told these bodies fit better on an early Gia pan?Has anyone heard this.By the way body is shaped could be true. |

I couldn't tell you. Mine has serious 2x2 thick wall stock for the outer rails and dropped fiberglass floors. They Ghia pans are significantly different and, while mine was not VW pans, they looked very similiar in shape.
So...if I had to guess I would say no....Bug style pans. |

* Just a note:
>>> "I NOW OWN 'PATRICK CAKEBREADS' ' FIBERFAB AVENGER GT-12" <<< You Tube.. > Patrick cakebreads AVENGER < to see
Plan on doing it up in GULF LIVERY.
Went to Fargo, ND just before eclipse and picked it up and brought it back to Weeki Wachee, FLA. ...Timed it so I could see eclipse on the way.
Till next post............ |
