I think the factory seats were designed to sweat in.

What do you mean? Intentionally made to sweat in? Or made so that when you sweat they aren’t destroyed?

Both Very Happy they are vinyl, so you are going to sweat, yet it won't soak in and stain like cloth would.

VW's idea of a economy seat does not hold moisture and air can circulate underneath because it is suspended by springs and not a stupid pan. I think that hot days were anticipated for. I have stiff but thick foam/pan seats in a older cherokee and it would be disgusting if you had to 'sweat it out' in those things. The foam is just a miserable sponge for sweat and the pan stops any ;albeit small amount , of air circulation that exists.

Also the vinyl is not smooth which must help air circulation.
