I have original 78/79 VW sliders that accept chrome molding.
They don't have screens but it's not hard to cut out a template and just make two screens and stick 'em on the windows when I camp. _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |

I'm in the process of having sliding windows made locally in Vancouver WA by http://www.motionwindows.com . I should get them the first week of July and report back. _________________ 1978 Delux Campmobile

I know it has little to do with what your all posting.
But as a side note White Diamond Metal Polish works wonders to make the metal frame of the old sliding windows look new again.
And other old metal/chrome on bus.
I tried lots of stuff before finding something that works. |

From Motion Windows. I called them about it and they sent them to me. _________________ 1978 Delux Campmobile

Thanks! I reached out to them and Here’s their reply:
"No unfortunately the frame and much of the parts for those windows were discontinued well before the turn of the century. We can no longer offer a replacement for these."
Maybe if someone pressed them they would come up with something, but they don't seem excited about it. _________________ 1977 FI Westfalia |

That was the first response I got also but somehow through Stuart and another VW enthusiasts I got the phone number and email of someone there that knew about them. The company does custom frames for vehicles and boats so they can make them with just the measurements of the window cut out.
I dont know if he still works there but if you can reach a guy named Tim, he may still be able to get them made without your measurements.
Try emailing him [email protected] or calling (360) 944-4447.
It doesn't sound like they are really into doing this but I love my sliding tinted windows and think it's worth a shot. I still want to go to their shop and get them to measure the rear hatch window and create a sliding window for it.
Good luck. I'm curious if you can get them to make them again. _________________ 1978 Delux Campmobile
