In preparing for getting my engine running, I came across a few things that I was not familiar with. Car is a 66 1300 sp, and supposedly, still 6v.
This is attached to the intake manifold.
And there is this little guy connected to the coil.

I believe the second item is a noise suppressor. _________________ '63 Ragtop |

First is part of a aftermarket EGR smog devise. Second is a coil noise suppressor. |

As for the smog device, should I just leave it there? What impact will it have on how the motor runs? _________________ Eric Meldrum

It would be nice if that condenser reduced engine noise . It's to supress radio static due to current discharge from the coil, generator etc. _________________ Roads Scholar &

Well, on that note, what might these have been used for...

Power for the radio normally comes off that fuse, the pair of condensers are for electrical noise suppression. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

I believe they have to be grounded . Also the fuse box & wire ends need work . |

The noise suppression usually came as a kit with multiple condensers. Typical locations for condensers would be coil, generator, radio. Grounding helps but is not a requirement, best if the condenser (resistor) isn't wiggling around loose. . _________________ Roads Scholar &
