I would like to present an idea to both the mods and the masses:

Can the forum create a modern data base to help stranded travelers with emergencies that come up here often?

I have much experience to offer as well as a fully equipped shop and can transport a bus if needed. It would be frustrating to me if I found out I could have helped someone traveling by with a roadside breakdown except for the fact that he or she did not know I was so close. I also have space with power and WI FI if anyone traveling needs to camp a few miles off the nearby interstate. I am certain there are others out there that can offer varying levels of support. I am all about paying forward.

Just a thought.

Yes, direct connect, perhaps sticky.

Why re-invent the wheel, just sticky the Van alert website and call it good.

We as a VW community need to get together and make a sound database of help from Splitties to Vanagons. We're all nice and willing to help. IDK anyone who owns one of those that wouldn't be willing to help out someone with one of the others.

Just promoted VanAlert

there's a thread here in the Bay forum from last april.

the vanalert is good for helping spot and return stolen VWs as well. since it goes out to participants in the targeted area.

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=676360

I wouldn't post my name/address in a sticky as the forums are scoured by search spiders/bots and then my address & phone number would be over run.

the app allows some level of privacy
