I think it's been speculated a few times in various forums, but this seems to be confirmation: A manual transmission really is a theft deterrent:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety...97e6ac7575
(I'd argue that an non-computerized, non-choked, carbureted engine, is another theft deterrent. They'll make a lot of noise, maybe flood the engine and not know how to make it work again, before they manage to get anywhere.) |

Exactly. Another is leaving the white body trace on the driveway from the previous attempt. _________________

or place a stick is such a way, so when they sit down, the stick will go up.
Just remember to remove it before you sit down. |

X2 on the gun many guns that come up missing go unreported or better yet owner doesn’t know serial number. Easy to sell for dope or money or maybe dope money. While a standard shift may be a deterrent to kids or joy riders a real thief will know exactly how to get the car quickly and quietly. Ditto battery and fuel cut offs. Pedal locks or locking shifter may slow em down but a roll back truck still defeats most all. I’m thinking loud alarm with concealed power might work |

I have records of all my firearms. And the pistol does not get left alone in the vehicle unsecured...like a lockbox chained to the car. The SIG is w/ its owner all the time.
Unless the perp or would be thief needs free body-piercings, I am more than willing to oblige him. We don't have car thefts where I live right now. Maybe on some parts of the city where it is like a local past time to steal someone's ride.
If people will just leave other people's property alone we will be golden. But someone somewhere thinks they are entitled to others' hard-earned possessions. Why can't people just work for what they need and not steal.
If i find anyone in my truck, he will go straight to Valhalla. I am sure he did not lose something in my truck. |

All "dick measuring" aside, is it legal to use deadly force against someone in Virginia for a property crime? Seriously, I am just wondering. As far as I know, someone being in your car without authorization is called "vehicle trespass" in Ohio, a low misdemeanor at best. I have heard that some of the far southern states have upgraded such things as stealing parts (like a battery) to authorize a deadly force response. I also heard that cases of theft went WAY down too. |

My SIG usually sits at home since it's not a good carry gun. Most of the time I've got either a DiamondBack DB380 or a Kahr Arms p380 in my pocket. I have several pictures of all of my guns, including pictures of the serial number. If someone wants my car more than me, I'd probably let them have it since I have full coverage.
No guns are ever left in my cars. Just a stupid thing to do. _________________

I recently got an older model SIG, model4 or P4, something like that, it's a convertible able to go from .22 to .25 to .32 to .380, which is where I have it for the foreseeable future. |

Yes but you can't kill someone you find breaking in though?
You have to be in danger.
I don't know the details but I believe you have to be reasonably unable to get out of the situation.
Pretty sure you would be fucked if you walk outside, see someone inside your car stealing your radio, walk over, and blow them away.
Even if somehow no charges are filed, you would probably have a civil suit on your hands.
Stealing a battery...
How else are you going to power your tree house and rain down beats? _________________ How to Post Photos

Before you pull the trigger in North Carolina to drill some low life you need to read and fully understand what the Castle Doctrine states. The lack of force, violence, bodily harm will earn you a manslaughter charge. Also if the low life is stealing your car, even your tent if camping and is unarmed and you drill him you also go to jail.
In every state, the law for personal defense vary, you had better know your law, not just what the buddies at the local gun range tell you.
The only thing possessing or carrying a gun should make you is more responsible. |

The law as written for N.C. pretty much states that if someone has broken into your property then they have presented themselves as a threat.
https://rowanfreepress.com/2014/03/30/n-c-law-for-...-doctrine/
But you can’t shoot them as they’re trying to escape if they’re outside.

Back to original posting, I would not rely on a stick shift saving the vehicle, somebody wants it they will know how to drive it. Also would not rely on a SIG either. I prefer switches and latching relays for one thing a thief does not has is time to figure out altered wiring, still not a 100% guarantee that it will not get popped. |

Reverse lock out is also a lock in, fuel shut off, electrical cut off/removable key, and a removeable steering wheel. Nor forking way am I going to leave it on a walmart lot. Even with a 5 figure agreed value, I loose.
Around here it has gone to "stand your ground".
Head for the big city after dark and there is a good chance your sig is not enough. They sure as hell are not scared of the cops. It's just like "grand theft auto", they ain't calling uber. _________________ My cut in half and rebuild thread
