I went to change my oil and the drain plug was pretty loose. When i went to tighten it, it wouldn't tighten. The pan is pretty thin and there are only a couple threads that hold the bolt and they must be stripped.

Does anyone recognize this aftermarket pan? Looks like "de's buggins"

I'm not sure what to but I was thinking if this is a pan I that is still made, I could just get the center part and bolt that back on.

That’s an antique! Claude’s Buggies is now called CB Performance.

Thanks guys!

Does anyone know if I have to use the original Claude's plate or will a different plate also bolt on with no problems? I'd like to get one with a drain plug like this...

It uses a oversized plate you you have to use theirs. it also requires a oversized gasket.

The plate is aluminum so you could drill and tap it to put a drain plug in.

You should always drop the plate to clean the screen when you change the oil.

I wonder if the one you have didn't originally have a drain plug in it either, being that it's in the middle of the logo.

Yeah definitely looks like a custom drain plug hole. The plate is so thin that I'm worried about trying to tap threads in a new plate. The plug only has a couple threads to grab on to

CB sells "billet" drain plates with a magnetic plug for those sumps.

Forget about using a screen/strainer with those oversize sump covers.

I wouldn't want to pound an extended sump into a rock or log.

Thanks, I actually ordered one of those and will be installing it soon. You guys recommend loctite on the studs that go into the sump pan and hold the sump plate on? If so, red or blue loctite?

I like Loctite 680. (620 would be my second choice.)
It's green, but it comes in a red bottle.
Get the mating parts hospital clean first, and replace that broken stud.
Good luck, Mondshine

Thanks. Yeah I cleaned the surface where the plate goes, got all the old seal off and I ordered a new stud and nut kit. Luckily that stud wasn't broken, it was only missing the nut.

Thanks again!

So far so good. Impressed with the quality of this plate. We'll see how it holds up to leaks. Drain plug will make for quick oil changes!
