Funny you should bring that up. If I am not mistaken, that would be a rear-facing fog light. These were added as time went by to comply with new road regulations that were introduced. Our OG 1949 Belgian standard has a similar set up and it was done at the dealership much later on in order to comply with those regulations. Luckily, I have hand written letters from the original owners in Belgium that attest to this fact.
