I'm considering a 68 Ghia and like the towel bar bumpers but this one has the Euro style.
Can anyone tell me if the Towel Bar bumper bolts and Euro style are the same ? Did the Euro style come factory this way?

Thanks!

The attachment point are the same at the guard corners and the two support bars (36, 37, 66 & 67 in the picture below) . However you will have to change the two covers over the support bars because the front towel rail bumpers have holes to accomodate the angled brackets. See 17 compared with 16.

Man... I would LOVE to find someone like you locally. I would trade my towel bars for Euro style in a heartbeat.

^^^^ this 100%. When I had my 67 I would've traded my towel bars for euro bumpers all day long!!! The euros are so much cleaner looking.

To the OP's question, the euro bumpers were factory items in europe. Mounting points are the same.

In Nicholas's diagram...Euro bumpers wont have the holes (#3, #60) for the side frt/rear towel bars. Easy to add a hole than to get it to go away.

Yeah...for cars originally sold in markets other than the US.

I actually like the Euro bumpers myself. Quicker route to a nose job however... Sad

Good point. The blades in US bumpers all have holes for the towel rail to be bolted in place. Similarly the Euro overriders are shorter and don't have the holes that let the towel rails through.

You'd be talking about swapping a complete set for another, and that would certainly work.

And they typically command a considerably higher price (in U.S) than U.S. spec bumpers in comparable condition.

All Ghias prior to Aug 1957 came fitted with the Euro Spec bumpers without the "towel rail" bumper guards. After that US spec bumpers were standard fitting to Ghia destined for the US and an option on other Ghias.
