My buddy has had that bus for years and it cruised around here locally since the early 90s. I had always thought the extra set of tail lights were hacked in, until I saw the mcode plate recently. |

Two digit "17"???
Looks like an extra space in front of 17 like a number missing |

Aussie buses have that too, don't they?
Does it have the M141 heater vent in load area still? |

I'm wondering if my 60' deluxe has a M024 code if it should have reverse lights? It looks like factory holes are cut out right above both taillights I just didn't know why. Reverse lights perhaps?
Borrowed this pic from papasmurf as an example

60-61 Aussie and Italian buses had the twin lights. The amber which is plastic for the indicators sat out from the bezel, the stop light was glass and sat flush. _________________ shiny paint doesnt make it worth any more |

Would it be safe to say that code 024 and code 139 are one in the same code for my bus? Feb 1960 bus delivered to Japan.
Code 024 (sealed beam headlamps, red taillight lenses)US/Canada
Code 139 (sealed beam headlamps, red taillight lenses)Export
An export 024 code (sealed beam head lamps, red taillights, side turn signals and back up lights) Mine doesn't have reverse lights or side turn signals
So in theory my bus is really Code 139 |

Sometimes there was some duplication in the M-codes
Also the lists often include things that were only on later Buses, like reverse lights. _________________ How to Post Photos

Hi,
Another interesting 59' standard bus currently for sale on Ebay.com
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1959-Volkswagen-Bus-Vanag...mp;vxp=mtr
Unusual M-544 option code paired with special color paint code !!!
For Everett, this special paint code is not listed on TheSamba and this is once again a shade of White color for this "SK 618B" code.
