Just making up a thread here so that I can simply link to my info I've assembled, rather than keep quoting it. Make it simpler,cleaner, less clunky to post for helping on the forum threads.

Here's some good starter info with the Samba, for the 'rookie': (no worries, my friend- every expert begins as a rookie  )
Welcome to the Samba! Here's some basic info to get your started:
Make sure to use the search tool before posting a new topic (yellow arrow) and check the "title only" box for best results (blue arrow) most questions/problems have already been talked about lots on here and you can find the answer easily this way
Check out the 'FAQs/stickies index for commonly discussed topics (red arrow)
The build threads are a great resource for learning about how to do something(purple arrow)
When looking at a topic, there's also a search bar that you can search a particular thread for a word or phrase (most helpful when searching the build threads for something specific- like "fuel pump" to see how they did that)

If you can't find the answer to your problem ask the community for help!
To best help you out when you have questions:
Tell us details (how, when, where the problem happened)
Tell us your set up (engine size, carb, distributor, super beetle or standard beetle, and any other relevant facts) (you can easily add this basic info about your car to your "signature" of your profile so that it always is below your posts: (orange arrow)
Also helpful to put your location so that maybe someone can help you in person if needed (can just put your state to start with) (pink arrow)
