Every shop in town is wanting to charge like $40 a sleeve for the four and I’m just broke as hayell getting ready for school.
If anyone could help me out I’d greatly appreciate it.
Even a more affordable price or something.
I just got the case back together and I feel like it would be a waste of effort to not time Sert the plugs at this point considering how thin the threads are. [/b] |

Has anyone used the fix-a-thread kit?
How does it compare to time Sert? |

How long of a time sert do you need for the plug insert? _________________ I have learned over the years.

Probably they are 14mm length. Measure and make sure.
Then PM me your address in Bakersfield.
I'll do something nice for a burgeoning college lad.
And order you the time-serts and rent the tool from AC.NET for ya.
Just make sure to return the tool. When you have completed the job.
BTW. What will be your area of study at college? _________________ I have learned over the years.

So I got your PM's.
Let me know if you need the time sert tool or the tool and the time serts.
I'm more than willing to help a college student of your potential.
All I ask is that some day when you can. "Pay it forward" when you encounter a young student that needs help while he/she saves for their lifetime goal of education.

I appreciate the offer so much man. Really, I do.
I just looked at the other head and realized both the spark plug holes were helicoiled *facepalm*
So it looks like I’m kind of stuck with these cause I haven’t found anyone rents the oversized kit and there’s no point in time serting one out of four holes.
Any thoughts on using helicoils for spark plugs? |

Have a look at this tool from AC.Net.
The description says, it's to repair spark plug holes that have had heli-coils installed and they failed.

Even at the cost of this tool rental kit. I'm willing to help you out.
Let me know.
Good Luck.
EDIT: The Big Serts (Time Serts) are $7.00 each. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I'd recommend taking up 67rustavenger's offer. I'd also say that Time-Sert are considered the best.
As to repairing after a heli-coil has failed, I had one heli-coil come out with the plug 2 decades after a machine shop had installed them all-around as a precaution (against my wishes). I used a solid threaded insert on my engine, it used the same threads that had been tapped for the heli-coil, It's been fine.
