Hi everyone. The starter on my 1960 just died. My question is does anyone run napa’s Rebuilt starter? Jbugs has a rebuilt Bosch for 135 bucks plus a huge core charge, Napa’s rebuilt is 45 bucks (same as all other local stores as well). Is a Bosch really worth another 90 bucks plus the core charge???? Napa has lifetime warranty. |

I'd be OK to try the NAPA; why? because starters are a ton easier to R&R than a generator. $45 starter with a lifetime warranty sounds like a great deal. I'd go NAPA myself with the information you supplied.
For the record: my 2 VWs both have rebuilt-by-Bosch 12 volt starters and generators.
My 1998 Frontier has a CarQuest rebuilt starter, over a dozen years OK with that now, out of warranty.
Mrs. Cusser's 2005 Yukon has a new Autozone starter in it, over 5 years now, lifetime warranty. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. The '71 now has the 1835 engine, swapped from the '70. Second owner of each. 1988 Mazda B2200 truck, 1998 Frontier, 2014 Yukon, 2004 Frontier King Cab. All manual transmission except for the Yukon. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=335294 http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=335297 |
