Does anyone have info on these hubcaps? I see them from time to time on Ghias and Bugs... they look like hubcaps you would normally see on single cabs and panel vans. Special order? Or was it stock... |

At the risk of sounding like someone that can't discern the minute details that distinguish two seemingly similar obects from one another, can you please explain to me how those hubcaps differ from those typically found on Karmann Ghias?
Is it that one has a more "round" appearance while the other is "flatter", does it have to do with differences in the logo stamped in the center, or something else altogether different?
To me, they look pretty darn similar to the ones featured in the old vintage sales literature illustrations such as these, ...

That same thought occurred to me as well, but then I thought perhaps I was missing something obvious to those "in the know".
It looks to me as though that particular photo may be a still shot from that old video recently posted depicting the ski trip in a Karmann Ghia. |

Ahhh..., "Poverty Caps"!
That would indeed be a different look on a Karmann Ghia - one that I've never seen, and am having some difficulty imagining.
Oh, and please ignore my previous comment about that photo being a still from the video - it turns out (surprise! ) that I'm all wet on that one.
The Ghia in the video is a Cabriolet, and therefore obviously does not have any skis nor rack of any kind on its "roof".
... but both Ghias are in snow country - that much I got right.

I think its just a conversation about "last night" she is using the tennis balls as a prop to help explain |
Makes sense, the lady in the red jumper has a Bug with a big engine that is overheating and it got really bad last night and she had to ditch it in the tennis court parking lot. Her buddy is giving her a couple tennis balls to prop open the deck lid for summer. _________________ How to Post Photos

what a lovely car! I can’t remember if it was an Uncle or family friend that had one when I was really young. But I remember LOVING that car.
