So I was driving today on the freeway (Bus has been running beautifully) about 4k rpm and it was like somebody shut the ignition off.

-Fuses all look good.

-Starter turns over

-I do run an elec. fuel pump off the coil (which I need to change to a relay).

-No power to Blk pwr wire at coil

-Any suggestions?

Thank,s

Either the switch died or the wire from the fuse box to the coil is open somewhere. From the diagram it looks like the ignition switch switches 12v to the fuse panel and the coil power comes off the unfused side. So you could lose the 12v and the fuses could still be good ( like you already know).

Thank you Westy.
-I will check the switch and the wire. It is a long way from front to back in a bus!!

Thanks,

I hope I’m not reading the schematic wrong. Do you have a copy of the ‘71 diagram?

Good to go. Fuse #10 had 12v.

-A Look in the engine compartment and I had the blk coil wire that was not hung appropriately far enough, got hot/melted.

-Just repaired.

-Back to the road in my BUS!!!

Thanks a bunch for the help/inspiration.

I'm betting on your ignition switch. Several years ago I had a similar problem. Turn key to ON and measure 12V at coil. Crank and 12V goes away. Release key and 12V comes back.

sounds like the heated manifold melted the wire, and blew a fuse.
