My 67 Fastback has a very slight rise in the hood. I would estimate it to be about 1/8 inch of a high spot. It's as if something too tall was in the trunk area and the lid was closed.
I would like to try to save the otherwise straight hood. Is this something I can attempt to fix myself and, if so, how do I go about it? The car is primered, so I do not have to worry about scratches or sanding.
Any ideas?

If it's NOT an alignment issue there would be damage on the edge of the curve.
Is there filler there and someone smoothed it out the best that they could? _________________ My beetle is not competing with your beetle. I have the yellow beetle in my town. There is a red one, a green one ......

I would loosen the hinge bolts and the latch bolts so you can still close the hood but it will give you the ability to move it around slightly. If it's too low at the hinges try to move it up and if the latch is to high in the front see if you can adjust it's placement a little. Panel alignment can get a little fiddly and takes lots of little adjustments to get it where you want. 1/8 inch here 1/16 there...
If it doesn't end up improving, then I would take a look at the hinges to see if they are bent or damaged. Beyond that the car may have suffered some damage in the front end at some point and didn't get repaired well enough for a good hood to fit right.
Good luck. _________________ 1970 bug

Try a different square or fasty hood on it to see if yours might be bowed out? _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

If I had a spare to try that would be awesome. I checked again for body filler and none that I can see. I have looked underneath and in the spare tire well for previous damage and none that I can see. It also has a clean title, not salvaged or rebuilt.
After looking at it closer last night - I am starting to think it could use a very slight adjustment - but the other side of the hood is not bowed in this same area. I think it may have a very slight bow. Its one of those things that is juuussssst noticeable enough to bug me. I am going to play with hinge adjustment this weekend - hope I don't completely mess it up by doing that. |

If this is the case there will be obvious damage to the inside of the hood. _________________ My beetle is not competing with your beetle. I have the yellow beetle in my town. There is a red one, a green one ......
