I read some really good threads on this jet and how it can be over-tightened, causing idle problems. After trying everything else... turns out this was my problem. So, turning out the idle jet on the right side of the carb and under the choke fixed the idle problem. Once I turned this out just a tad, idles great. But the jet is loose and keeps closing due to vibration. What is a good way to keep this from moving once it is set? Thanks guys!!! |

Seeing as how the carb is toast anyhow, put some blue Loktite on the jet threads, screw it in to where you want it, and let the Loktite cure. _________________ '71 panel, now with FI

It should have a little tiny kind of fat may-be 1/16" or maybe a little less thick O ring on it that seals to the carb body and you can use a real thick grease on the O rings on both of those adjusters to help them. _________________ 1960 Beetle And 1679cc DP W-100 & Dual Zeniths! |

He's referring to the idle jet on the RH side of the carb near the choke heater, not an adjustment screw.
Locktite or permatex 2 on the threads (not on the tip or smooth part), some have even used teflon tape. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Locktite blue worked like a charm! I think even the teflon tape idea is a good one (in case this thread gets picked up in the future). |
