Are these original skylights sturdy enough to drive with them open? Would be a nice option to get some air flow to the back while moving down the road. _________________ 1976 Westy

Would be a nice option if one of these owners of one would hook a brother up and measure - offer up - assist in getting these repopped!
There are at least 10 people on here that would want one and I bet another 20 once they knew what it was - and that's not counting Europe. _________________

The roof skylight is a westfalia accessory, don't think it has a m-code _________________ Westfalia Helsinki 6/77

Yeah, thats the way. Should be pretty straight forward. With regard to making a mold, would an original lid be perfect of course. Easy enough to make a negative and then draw some acrylic sheeting over it.
If someone has an OG lid and wants to give it a shot, I'd buy one!!!
If I should find an original one, I will make a few copies. |
I can make you messurements Pal if you are interested in making mold and repro... |

To open the topic again. This is the exact item I am looking for. The acrylic can be found at bus-ok. It is the mechanism I am looking for. |

I would like to team up with any of you with the hardware for these. I have a place local to me that can make up the bits easily. This includes the top - clear plastic piece. I can move forward and get this done without help, but would be open to interpretation from my builder.
I just need to borrow the parts and or buy them direct. Please PM me if interested.

So looking back through this thread - I notice my fellow hoarder/brother and purveyor of all things rare, obscure and little appreciated posted this little tid bit of Westfalia option priceing for definatly German/Euro options.
Dachentlüfter im Aufstelldach und Hubdach - Roof ventilator in the pitch roof and lifting roof - 216-004-145-001 as noted on the top of my pages posted and listed in otiswesty's price list.
Just cool paper trail stuff.

That extra 20mm of required clearance could hurt you in some city parking garages _________________ 1978 Sage Green P22 Westfalia

So, a certain @notchboy got in touch with me, and I'm going to lend him my Skylight so he can copy it and reproduce it. Drilled out the rivets for the first time ever. A little spooky, but it will be really neat to preserve and reproduce this neat little feature.

That's awesome! Thanks for loaning it to him! Are you getting the lifting mechanism copied and fabricated? An exact replica is the way to go for sure. If it were an exact reproduction I would be in for one. |
