I think I know the answer and just need reassurance. I want to clean the heater box as mice have lived there for some time. I watched the GoWesty video on removing the long metal flap but it appears that my box is different. I'm guessing I have to separate the plastic tabs on the part that holds the rod in place. Am I right? Thanks!

Make sure there's not one last screw underneath the foam gasket! and warning, there are mouse carcasses in this thread.

Install in reverse order of removal.

Thank you. I hadn't noticed that there were two rods with flaps on them.

However, when I got to removing the heater core, I discovered, from watching the videos, that there should be a metal plate behind the core. It is missing from my box (another gotcha from Dylan at Insyncro who replaced the blower). Anybody know what its function is? It seems unlikely that I could find a replacement but it might be possible to fabricate one.
