So first, thank all of you who got me to this point!!! I defiantly couldn't have done it with out the support and advice from YOU,our VW community!
So this weekend three generations went camping for the first time in over a decade! I have owned this Westfalia from day one, over 38 yrs! Our family took all our vacations camping in it, mostly upstate New York, and a trip to Disney Land too! My 3 kids grew up in this van, and both son's had a period of ownership, with my middle guy having it for several years camping almost every weekend. but after two blown motors and life taking over it sat for many yrs. I started restoring and driving it about 7 yrs ago, driving it as i went along, both body and mechanical Had it all ready for our big family reunion 3 yrs ago, when 180 miles into the trip, the engine blew. It has taken me till now to get it to the point of taking our first camping trip, though i drive it daily running 45 min highway trips one way, i never took it camping , until this weekend. It wasn't a far trip, maybe 65 miles to a local State Park, but it was the first trip! We had rain, sun, thunder, lightning, all the fun things that camping is all about. But most important it was my 8 yr old granddaughters first time camping, and a long time since my son and i did a trip together, so that in my book is priceless. I know we made memories that none of us will ever forget...

You are right ED it is Wildwood State Park! Quite the little gem on Long Island! Im always up for some camping, One Assuan brown westy is cool, two would be a party, three a revolution!
