As I am pre-fitting parts for reassembling my 71 Convertible, I have found the screw holes for the door sill plate were filled or perhaps the paint has just filled them. Before just poking around and messing up the paint, I was wondering if anyone had the proper positioning of the sill plate. Does it slide all the way forward, or is it best positioned toward the rear? If anyone can supply the measurements from the front door post to the front edge of the sill, or same measurement from the rear, please let me know.

Thank you Sir, I had a feeling they should be all the way forward as they seemed to fit better at that point. Will now mark and mount!

No worries, just embedded into me after 30 years! If I had a list of everyone's first name, I would address as such, given permission of course! No reason to apologize for serving in the Corps..  Some of my best friends are Jarheads!
