As I am pre-fitting parts for reassembling my 71 Convertible, I have found the screw holes for the door sill plate were filled or perhaps the paint has just filled them. Before just poking around and messing up the paint, I was wondering if anyone had the proper positioning of the sill plate. Does it slide all the way forward, or is it best positioned toward the rear? If anyone can supply the measurements from the front door post to the front edge of the sill, or same measurement from the rear, please let me know.

Thanks as always!
Jeff

I'm not near my Ghia but as an FYI to anyone willing to measure, the same sill was used from 69-74.

Thank you Sir, I had a feeling they should be all the way forward as they seemed to fit better at that point. Will now mark and mount!

You're probably already aware of this, but since it's not detailed in the standard manuals regarding the door sill there's a note on page 5 (section 14/15) in this supplement worth noting https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/looklisten_14/looklisten14_body_leaks_ghia.pdf. I think someone called attention to this recently in a discussion on rust.

This is great, thank you for this Sir, I am at the right stage in my reassembly to check and follow these guidelines and hopefully meet them ahead of time. Perfect timing!!

No "Sir" required here, Jeff; I left Uncle Sam's Misguided Children as E5 in '72... and my parents were married Laughing
