I hope so, you are right though I haven’t seen oneh around for a long time now. Hopefully another four or five weeks and I will get it roadworthy.

Meanwhile moved to the back axle as I am waiting for the right tie rod to arrive. I gave up on reasoning with the rear wheel bearings since my first Ghia now I use two bolts weld them to the bearing and when the first one is done I weld the bearing that came out to the other side and the job is done in 30 min.

With the front steering and brakes done I decided to drop the engine to replace the seals, check the clutch etc. and it sure was a slight mess there along with someone making a mess out of the gland nut

release ring was lose and you could see where it rubbed with the drive shaft

T/O Bearing will need to be replaced as well so I am just going all new with a new 180mm pressure plate, clutch, bearing and a gland nut.

Meanwhile and since I work alone I made this when time comes after I replace the brake lines and hoses. Can't wait to try it.

I am keeping the flywheel or you referring in general or because of the starter ?

PO already switched it to 12v "mostly" , I replaced the starter with a new Bosch SR15N, you think I will have an issue between the flywheel and starter?

The bleeder is keeping pressure so that is promising lol.

Well I have a problem then, it is the new self supporting starter. If I switch to 12v I will have to grind the bell housing or is there a 12v flywheel out there that is made for the conversion.

If you use a 200mm flywheel it will probably require some grinding. Ive done it, 10-15 minutes added to engine install time. We pushed the motor into the trans and got it to leave witness marks. Grind and try again, grind and repeat. Good starter, thats what I use (its not fancy looking like yours) Crying or Very sad . Back in the 80's I had a 66 I swapped to 12 volt. I ran 12 volts thru my 6V starter. Quick starts, fast spinning, I think it lasted 2 or 3 years before it burned out. Is there a 12V solenoid that mounts on a 6V starter? I think you have several options.

Thanks for the good catch, I will switch to 12V flywheel. Only makes sense since I am replacing everything else anyway. I just took the old flywheel off.

If you don't plan on going with a big engine or pounding that beast off-road, I'd suggest losing that solid engine mount & strap kit, they're noisy as hell.

Thanks for the tip, I have a set of front and back mounts I will be installing.

Since the spring plates and drums are off anyway I am going to drop the transmission to refit the 12v flywheel instead grinding and mounting the engine multiple times, I will have better access to clean the transmission while I am at it. Just sounds easier that way.

12V flywheel made it and I had it installed along with the new Sachs pressure plate and clutch, clearancing the bell housing for the flywheel wasn't half bad since both transmission and engine were out of the car.
Cleaned and painted the transmission while I am at it with everything going back in the car after I replace the brakes lines. Getting there.

Thanks, Rustoleum enamel after couple of hours of scraping, paint striper, wax and grease remover.

quick follow up, as planned car is back together "mostly Smile" suspension and brakes completely redone.
Engine running strong, I have a peculiar thing going with the tires that I will post about in the tires thread. once this is figured out I will take it for a VIN inspection and tags.
