Can someone post the correct wire colors and their location on the heater timer plug. I have the correct switch with the six spade connections but unfortunately the previous owner pulled 4 of the wires out of the plastic plug on the heater harness. I need to know which color wire goes in each plug opening

Have you checked the wiring diagrams in the TECHNICAL SECTION to the upper right of every page here on The Samba?

I don't have a "clear" picture either. But it looks like the terminals on the switch are labeled.

Perhaps you could answer a question for me. Maybe after you have a look at your switch you could post what the labels are. There are six terminals on the switch but only 5 connections to it.

30 - unswitched power - red, from downstream side of fuse 9
15 - switched power - black, from terminal 15 on the light switch
A - power from timer switch to heater - gray (terminal A on the J10 Safety Switch)
58a - power to lamp in timer switch knob - gray/red
31 - ground for lamp in timer switch knob - brown

So what's the sixth connector labeled?

Is it possible to run the fan without the heater?

From the Technical Section

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiring/Thing_Eberspacher_BN4_Heater_Wiring.pdf

You can see the switch E16 with the wire numbers and colors. Don't know which spade the #15 wire goes to.

There's an error on the diagram. Where it mentions the black wire going to terminal 15 on the light switch - it should say terminal X on the light switch. So the black wire should go from terminal X on the light switch to terminal X on the heater timer switch.

Theres a black wire on mine on the "x" terminal. Does that go to the "x" terminal on the headlight switch?

I wonder why someone would have put black tape over the end of the wire. Hm.....
