Hmmm, so according to some of the "read these first" posts on this site, 63-67 use the same front seat. Since this is earlier as you suggest, does that mean I have a front seat that's not correct for my 65'? I still haven't been able to find a thread that details seat frame distinctions between 63-67 and earlier front seats.

I might have confused you, I mean "sewn" seams were used on 63 and earlier seats. 64-67 are heat-seamed.

63-67 are the same driver's seat frame so you are set if you want to recover it.
It's the same driver's seat frame for both Bench and walk-thru Buses too, for those years
(Some people think they are different)

Thanks EverettB. Just to clarify, what year range does the seat base/hardware cover (excluding differences in upholstery).

The bare seat frame? 1963-67 are the same.

Pretty slow-going, but some forward progress. Bus is in the queue for some light metal restoration at Silver Lining Restoration. Scope is pretty limited...just cargo-side inner/outer rocker and adjacent floor section and a few other small areas. The driver side door had some bondo and needs some repair, so a faux patina color match is in order to match the rest of the OG paint. I couldn't find an OG SWR door that looked OK...maybe a future purchase, but this will work for now. Metal ordered, so I'm hoping to get the bus back soon!

Meanwhile, I've got the original red house paint-over-Dove-blue safaris stripped, parts ordered and will be painting them up this week and reassembling. Pop outs are next.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

My bus was missing the rear seat (it has the original middle) but I managed to find a nice SB/BG example locally. Will be swapping these covers out for new material. I appreciate the preservation movement on interior stuff, but I decided to go new reproduction on the interior. My bus came with all the panels, but they had been recovered at some point so my starting point on an OG interior is effectively nothing.

OK, finally have a real update. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Silver Lining Restoration is handling the metal work for this bus. Morrie has been great and has provided extensive updates.

Morrie and looked over my bus and came up with a good plan. I wanted a failry light touch, opting for patching repairs in some areas and new or donor metal in more extensively rusted areas. Emphasis is to preserve and blend with less regard to making repairs applicable to a full restoration at a later date. Here we go...

Starting on the A pillar on LH side.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And RH side floor.

All patched and ground down.

Same on the LH side, Even repaired the seal track.

Now, on to the one dumb thing I did when I got the bus. At the time, I was driving around the family's 78' Bay. It has that sweet engine access panel that the engineers surely overlooked on the previous generation of buses. It was all too tempting, so this happened... Embarassed Hey, I was 18!

The original driver door had some damage and filler. Initially, we were planning on using a spare I had picked up years ago, but we went back to the original door for the OG beige gray paint and interior side paint. Plan is to strip the respray and repair it as needed to match the OG SWR.

Hey everyone. I have a nice update coming with a ton of pics, but here's a few teasers. The OG paint buffed out sweet and the limited repair/blending integrates great! When I rolled up to Silver Lining Restoration yesterday, I thought that Morrie had mistakenly done a rotisserie full resto!

When I have a moment I'll upload a full report. I'm stoked! Thx for looking.
