I have been reading all the threads I can find on these hoods and it is all starting to run together. Thought it would be easier to just post pics and see if anyone can help me date this hood.

Many years later haha.
But if it not have the 2 small slots to mount a hood creast then itīs earlier then march 1951. |
Thanks for resurrecting this thread Sweden, if you are correct in your assertion, I have determined that the hood I have purchased for my '53 oval was originally from a pre-March of 1951 Standard Beetle.
It has 3 bolts per hinge and a separate hood prop hole and triangle reinforcement but has no evidence of ever having emblem nor hood crest holes. It has suffered the drilling of deluxe trim holes along the way and has lost it's interior latch panel prior to my acquisition.
I'll be looking for an appropriate one instead of adding to the carnage and introducing the emblem and crest slots to this hood originally devoid of these features.

If the hood was from an standard it donīt have emblem nor hood crest and then no holes.
But 1950 and older hood have this 2 set of 3 drain hole i think.
