I acquired this hardcover service manual while clearing my parents' estate. My dad purchased it new and used it for many years when he had a side business repairing VWs. I don't believe any pages are missing and, aside from the wear and tear (and tape job on the binder) it's in good condition. I spent many a rainy Saturday/Sunday reading through the technical procedures when I was very young. This book includes the repair procedures for vehicles equipped with cable brakes. The bodywork repair section is fantastic with detailed images of repairs carried out on actual damaged vehicles.
Any idea on what this is worth? It is the perfect item for an early VW enthusiast who would keep this as a conversation piece, display item, or even reference for maintenance.
Thanks for the feedback an interest.

... it is priceless. I did get another VW manual. A 1952/1954 workshop manual - is more in line with the era of cars, I now have and is also "priceless" _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

I don't find this response to be of any help because there is no context to use for reference. When did you sell your copy -- two years ago? -- ten years ago? Please be more elaborate in your response if you intend on being helpful. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |

$100-$150 is probably fair for that book in that condition.
If you are handy with how internet search engines work, you can do a google search which will find old ads on the samba but you can only see thumbnails, price, and title (no descriptions). |

My estimate would be less than $200. _________________ Always on the hunt for pre 1950 literature and other rarities!

Yes, I am familiar with searching the Googles; however, that's only partially helpful in setting a value. For example, let's say I find an archived listing of one in similar condition for $400, the listing of which was from five years ago. Sure, it was listed at that price but it may have languished for a year and the seller may have sold it at a local swap meet for $150. Details like that are not part of the ad's history.

FWIW I told him to start at $200 and see if he gets any offers.
I think nice ones are around that level so it should be less but you never know... |
Yes, one never knows. I listed it at $200 but avoided including a "Best Offer" option due to the kinds of people who will respond with a lowball offer of $20. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |
