To be fair, that truck was loaded down very heavily with cinder blocks in the back as I recall. Any time a Vanagon comes up for sale on Bring a Trailer, someone inevitably trots out that video to make folks scared of the world around them.
BTW, the GIF didn't work for me, I just recognized the start of the video. _________________ nothing |

Sorry about the link. It must be an iPad thing, cause it worked for me. Agreed, either cinder blocks or that was pushed up to some horrendous speed.
Hmmmm, scaring away buyers might be a good thing. _________________ Prosit!

I wrecked my Baja/volksrod 12-16-2015, and here's the original post on another site from when it first happened-

So, I'm a vw guy. I've owned six. My recent daily driver for the last year has been a 61 ragtop Baja bug. Rewired it, brakes, built up an engine, the works. I'm a pretty cautious driver, so this car has never felt unsafe, because I know it's limits, capabilities, and drive defensively. This little bastard handles like a dream, so I'm always on back roads, sneaky trails, and generally enjoying myself responsibly in it. So, to get to the point, I rolled it night before last. Very scary experience, and the worst accident I've ever been in. I honesty feel blessed and wonderfully lucky to be alive.
Driving home from work on calaveras rd (for anybody that knows the Livermore ca area) Rolled the car twice after hitting debris (a cinderblock? Brick? Couldn't tell) in the road while making a right hand turn, that sent me fishtailing through a very tight turn on a very slinky road. Threw the steering wheel to the left to prevent running off the side of the road and rolling down the 100 or so feet down the side of the hill... this had caused to me hit the left hand side of the hill at about a 45° angle, and the car flipped twice, landed on its side, and facing the opposite direction. I had to rip open the ragtop to climb out because the passenger side door was stuck, and the car was laying on the driver side door. The pan/frame of the car is twisted, even managed to twist the front beam, body thrashed. I was only going about twenty through the turn, and it was still crazy. Worst accident I've ever been in.

Yes, the shock disappeared during the accident.
My left shoulder had dislocated, and I had to set it back after climbing out of the car.
I went to work the next day
Long story short, the tow yard ended up keeping the car after the fees were too much to afford to get it out. CHP had a tow truck there before I ever had the chance to get to an area with reception and call a tow truck, and then the fees just got out of control from there.
That engine had less than 15,000 miles on it too _________________ 73 super beetle thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=649622 Back on the Road!
