Are Porsche 912 valve covers the same as type 4 valve covers? I have a terrible leak and am at my wits end. I am trying to find bolt on that works. |

76 912e and 914 are the same but the early 912 (65-69) is not, if you have a valve cover leak that you cannot rectify, maybe but another valve cover, sometimes they warp |

Are you aware of anyone who manufactures a bolt on valve cover to replace what I have?
I will try new valve covers in the mean time.
Thanks |

SierraMadre lists them for the 356 engines thru 1965. Does the 912 have an added breather or is it possibly the same? $645 but currently out of stock.

Someone makes a set that looks like the 4 cam valve covers with the "Porsche" on them. I seem to recall some sort of hardware that attaches to the rocker assembly and then allows you to bolt them on. |

Your gasket probably moved into the rocker area. You have to use a lite coating of silicone sealant on a cleaned valve cover ONLY and let it dry with the gasket on it at least 20 min.s then carefully put it on the motor. You can tell if that's your leak by removing the valve cover and looking at the bottom area, it will be deformed. If you are using cork gaskets you have to let them sit in a tray of water about 15 min.s (turning once) so the can return to size, just wipe water off before installing. The 356 covers can be used on the 912 (69-66) by drilling the hole as it's a rubber fitting that you can probably remove from the old cover. |
