I have found one of the rare old rings today, its not stainless or aluminium, its cromed steel. Staped Lemmertz and dated 4-57.
The old guy thought he had the rest of the trim rings also, he are going to look for them. |

Yes, they are now $25 a piece and worth it IMO. Beautiful and sturdy fit and finish very, very nice. _________________ If you take time to do it, do it right and don't be so damn cheap.....🤙🏻

Not Lemmerz but, Stainless steel, dent resistant, and very high quality. _________________ If you take time to do it, do it right and don't be so damn cheap.....🤙🏻

I've been waiting to show John that I've succumbed and installed a set!
These are the Bob Drake ones, installed them last week. They were a little rough on the paint, but the wheels on this vehicle are pretty shocking anyway. I'm very pleased with the result! _________________ 1962 1/2 Australian Made Beetle

Good lad! I fitted mine on fresh powdercoated rims in early 2008 and have no idea what they did to the paint...never taken them off.
I've never understood the argument of not fitting them so as not to damage the paintwork. They look so good why would you take them off. _________________ John.

PFN, is there rubber moulding on your rear bumper? or is it just a shadow? |
Yes, just rubber someone's put on the four bumper corners in the past. _________________ 1962 1/2 Australian Made Beetle

In working on the March 56 I have 5 original rings. I went to the plater today and there are lots of pits from stones and small dents. At best they would have charged 600-800 to repair and replace and they would not be perfect. I went for a set of 5 from Bob and they are 200 delivered. Thanks
Also if there is a expert in restoring these originals PM me. _________________ http://karmannghias.org/

Yes, I remember Mike Gregory saying, "it's nice to have originals but they have a habit of spinning off into a ditch at the most inconvenient moment" I have the 5 date stamped original hanging in my garage. _________________ John.

I will too now except mine are copper color now! They did this as the first layer to highlight the damage. Maybe I'll polish them and have a new look _________________ http://karmannghias.org/
