That first drive ended up the bus staled out on me and mushy (oops out of gas) so dave and spell cat came to the rescue to help push start it..
Then we drove off..

The previous owner was super enthusiastic about it getting fixed up so here goes another kw bus going back into use..

Once it was parked in the driveway I started tinkering with it and well thus is the unusual build thread for it
The goal is to drive the bus to kw bug show in the fall.
although rt now i just need brakes to drive it around the lot..

Great job on your bus man, what an improvement and satisfaction, huh! So I wanted to ask you, could you give me a run down on your flooring that you have in it? What materials you used, vinyl or planks, hardwood? I'm doing that right now but it's so confusing from what many people are choosing and doing, thanks.

well, I took a vid however the file didn't work so i only have these pics of the motor.

It was about 4am before work and i started on removing the motor what a dirt and greasy job as the engine bay was covered in oil spray oil..

After several hours the motor was removed and i proceeded to take the mice nests and barn fodder out of the engine bay..

I then proceeded to remove the engine tin and give the motor a once over and redo the engine tin. It looks decent only runs on 2 cylinders though..

it turned out like this
original motor too..

after being covered in grease to remove the motor i decided ..man i don't want to be covered in oil everytime time i remove the motor.. so me and my dad and my girfreind opted to clean engine bay..

first we pushed the bus outside..then I used a spray nozzle and a brush to brush on some environmentally safe cleaners.
The fun part was when dad(Frank) started the power washer and Michelle tackled the dirt with the power sprayer right in the engine bay it shoots a fine spray nozzle so it was like playing one of the water gun games at a circus.. I had a good try at it too and the results are as shown

nice and clean.. the engine bay on the 68 Michelle did an excellent job power spraying it..

I'd repaint it. You've already done the hard part which was degreasing it. Go get some 220 sand paper and scuff it all and sand it all smooth. Then sand it a final time with wet/dry 400. Primer any bare metal then paint it the same color with automotive paint. If you don't have a compressor and paint spray gun, you can have the color mixed up and put in spray cans.

By painting it up all nice, it will make the entire engine bay bright and clean. Just take your time and cover/tape up things that shouldn't be painted so it doesn't look like a hack job. Very Happy

Good work, next work on front steering and suspension: I see too much movement when steering, and also too much movement with the shift rod. Happy it is running!

You need to put a rope or strap around the bottom of the trans like in pic 1 to support the weight. It is resting on the shift coupler right now.

The weight of the trans is resting on the shift coupler right now and it can bend the shift coupler and the shift rod. Bent shift coupler on right.
