|
|
my 79 bay has a heat outlet just under the middle seat in the cargo area...
this has been blocked off (with a rubber ball jammed in there a little ways) - how does this usually look?
I checked my manual and the ETKA software but I can't find any part numbers or pictures showing what should be here. Is there some kind of vent cover to keep crap from falling down into this vent when it's hooked up?
any tips, suggestions or misc tomfoolery welcomed. |

There was a spring loaded flap shaped like a D that covered it.

this is perfect, thanks busdaddy!
I was failing to come up with the correct terminology when searching the forums and classifieds for it...
of course I missed the most obvious part, the regular manual!
ETKA and Bentley are a little bit too in depth for 'where's the heat thingy' questions I guess... ;p |

Part number for #30? I have the flap (31) and the spring (32), but am missing the vent. _________________ 1979 Microbus |

Your vent probably got tossed by the previous owner. It slides into the tube after you remove the flap and spring. The vent then gets secured by one bolt of the middle seat anchor, if I recall correctly. My 1973 bus is equipped with one, but my 1978 piece is missing. If you need a picture, let me know. |

just lift the flap and insert the outlet. When removed the spring holds it closed. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

When I removed the mouse house and tuned up the system, opening the flap made the back of the bus about 10 degrees warmer and helped balance out the draft from the sunroof. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

No need for a pic thanks - busdaddy's owner's manual photo above is good info.
Does this look like the correct vent?

No, that's an early defroster duct, the seller is confused. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Yeah, spotted one on the local Craigslist a few weeks ago for $90. Glad I waited a while _________________ 1979 Microbus |
