I have a 1993 vw cabriolet. I am trying to source a part needed for my drum brakes that no parts stores have. In the Bentley manual, it is called the “adjusting bar” which is a metal bar that goes between the two shoes and sits right below the wheel cylinder and two springs are used to keep it in place. Laughing When i opened my project’s drum there was nothing but a busted wheel cylinder. If anyone has one or knows where to find one, let me know. Thanks

The part circled in green below is what I need

Good luck finding new. Craigslist? Ebay?

I'm not there, but the wedge that the small blue spring [runs perpendicular] attaches to is probably also missing. You'll need that [unless it's in your spring kit].

this is a link to the German mk1 cabriolet parts catalogue:
https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/catalogues/Golf1Cabrio-1984-1993/html5.html#/468

It's in German, but you can find the parts numbers and can start a search by those numbers.

171609819B left side
171609820B right side

If it's not available as a single part, it will be available within a pre-assembled break shoe set.

Every part is available except that!
It's a junkyard part, go to Pa. and find a junkyard, and you'll have them in an hour.
Or spend $699 for 4 wheel disc brakes

I hope they have found the part since this thread opened in May.

Maybe they converted to disc. That certainly would have been easier.
