Tuesday 6am. Leaving Saskatoon. 20 hours later we were in Salt Lake City/
Flew through tech including a bailout, which I hadn't even practiced (new rules this year) Corporate photo shoot for VWoA and their Passat that they brought. Then a private shoot with the Meyers Manx one of the advertising crew brought. After the shoot I took him for a spin, but he wouldn't let me show him what a buggy can do......Nice car, nicely put together, rode great.
Racing tomorrow in the 130MPH Club where I'll try and hit 130mph in a mile.
Salt is PERFECT, hard as concrete and very little dust on top.

Side by side shot really shows how much you sliced and diced! Salt looks great. Wearing my 130 club shirt today in support. _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org

Sorry for the late reply boys,
What an incredibly busy week. Long days at the track.
Saturday morning I ran 129.825 (SO CLOSE) and after that I just chased the tune and electrical gremlins.
My newer CB Performance 8.2mm plug wires broke down over 4000rpm, one dieing completely and 2 other intermittently so I changed them and got the ignition back up to snuff only to be plagued with fueling problems. Very disappointing as they have less than 50 miles on them.
A mistake by me, sorting out jets at home, resulted in mismatched main jets on one run, but that led us to finding the main problem we were having, air over the carbs, confirmed by my go-pro footage looking over the back deck. Fuel was blowing out of #3 into #4 causing a lean/pig rich problem so we built a spoiler out of cardboard and duct tape and got that mostly sorted but we still ran mismatched jets and the plugs looked identical after a run. The air density changed by THOUSANDS of feet each day it was never the same run to run so we had real problems jetting but we also gained a bunch of jetting data to start making charts.
On the plus side the car ran straight as an arrow and could easily be guided if needed but it ran straight up the middle with no sign of drama even in a bit of cross wind. I ran using the 28 inch tires. I tried the 26s on one run and I just drove through them in 3rd gear and a bit of 4th, but I have to figure out some gearing, the 4th I have is wrong. and it's too far out of the torque curve to pull.
I also have to work on the dash and being able to see things better. Need to move a bunch of things around or just get rid of things all together.
Got my friend John in the car and he ran 117-119, his first ever runs at Bonneville. It was a lot of fun to watch him run and watch my car leave under power on the salt. Need to thank Rick, John and Dave for helping me out so much and keeping things running smoothly.
Oh, and I had to do a bailout, new rules for mod car this year in the 130 Club. Got my big butt out in the needed time with only two practice runs so that was tense. John got his skinny butt out in 9.........
I count this as a complete success, the car has 130mph in it. More important I have a chassis that I can work with, that runs straight and true. I'll get my 130 hat next time......maybe.......

Close but no cigar!
Great job, even if the results were slightly less than hoped for.
Win some, lose some.... see ya next year!

Yes, a success. Passed tech on one try with a brand new build. Went straight and true. No doubt you will get your hat next time buddy, no maybes
Next time I will bring the big jar of white marble.
Thanks for inviting me to be a part of it _________________ Rick
