Help ID these recliners and how to make them work

I was told they are Porsche ? I want to make them work on my bug. Do I need to cut the seat backs ? Any info please

They certainly look like many of the Porsche adjusters I've seen.

If I recall, early Porsche seat backs don't pivot down at the bottom of the frame like beetle seats- so compare them. Me thinks they pivot higher up- where upholstery wraps over frame. The frames are basically right on the tracks.

I'd certainly experiment with chopping spare seats before working with the real McCoy- the frames are hard to reinforce to some degree. They are often weakened where the bottom upholstery tack strip channel is welded to the uprights.

They'll be really neat when done. I've already been wrong a dozen times today- so definitely cross check me!
