It's projects like this that make me realize just how lucky I was to happen upon my Margie in all her faded, but original glory.

Thank you all for the kind words! They keep us motivated! 
So in the meantime we covered the new fitted floors with primer.
Sadly i don't have a picture of the driver cabin floor at the moment.
Of course the side walls will also receive a new cover of paint!

And thats what we did during the last weekend.
Luckily our neighbour also has two car projects at the moment and built a ramp in his driveway. Such a great idea!  Now he is on holiday and allowed us to use it too 
So we used the opportunity and removed all the rust and dirt with spatula scrapers and wire brushes.
When we finished sanding, we made sure everything was free of dust and started to paint with rust disolver and primer.
Looks a lot better now!

So after weeks of not posting i felt like it is time for an update.
It was not easy for us, but we decided that Eve will receive a new paint job.
Of course in original colors - Sea blue (L360) and cumulus white (L680).
Here are some pictures that show how the optic of our bus changed during the past weeks.
Basically all we did was preparing for the new paint job. We covered the bus in primer and wet-sanded it.
Then we used primer again and sanded everything down again with wet sanding paper. We repeated the process 2-3 times.
With the black spots that you can see in some pictures below, we marked areas that sill needed work.
so that's it for now.. these days we sleep very well as we are tired all the time due to working all the time - outside.. during very hot summer days.. 
Already looking forward to the new paint job that will happen soon!

PS: Here are some other news - i was lucky enough to find a 10 second long footage of our bus on youtube.
It shows the previous owner driving Eve on Main Street in Manti - Utah as he attended "Rat Fink Reunion 2014" with Big Daddy Ed Roth.
Back then the bus also received a pin striping by a beginner above the front emblem as well as on the decklid.

Time for some updates again..
We finally painted the bus again - of course in original VW colours.
Lower half: L360 Seablue
Upper half: L680 Cumulus White
please ignore the tires 
So far we just painted the outside.. inside work will follow!
My father also already polished first chrome parts such as door handles:
(seals still need to be replaced - we just used them for taking some photos)

And here are some photos showing how the new upholstered seats match with the sea blue paint on the outside.
The previous owner in the Netherlands already let a workshop do the upholstery. As original aeropapyrus was not available anymore, they decided to use some fabrics that come close to the original - or at least match with the outside.
Please note that the inside of the bus still needs lots of work, which we will take on in the nearby future. Of course we already ordered the exact same fabrics that were used for the seats, so we can also use it for the interior panels - will make a nice fall/winter job.
Comparison: old, faded aeropapyrus vs. new upholstered seats.
