Asking for suggestions on how to mount a license plate on a front ribbed bumper? Don’t really want to drill holes if I don’t have to. Are there any nice brackets out there?
Thanks! _________________ Dang this Type II thing has gotten expensive! |

Make your own bracket.

This is what you are looking for. They clamp to the bumper, no holes required. |
Can you explain how these work? |

Sure, I will try to illustrate how they work. These brackets are made for European plates, but I will show how they will work on US plates on these pressed bumpers. The later bumpers are too fat for these brackets to work with US plates unless you drill new holes in the plates.
This is a picture of the parts of a bracket.
This is how it clamps to the edge of the bumper (sorry my bumper are currently up in the rafters).
You will need some spacers to clear the front of the bumper
All you'll see from the front are two screw heads.
You can mount them to the top or the bottom edge of the bumper. It is advisable to use the bottom edge of the bumper because the clamps will leave some marks in the paint of the bumper. _________________ - Michael

Thanks for all the ideas!
The adhesive pads seem the most economical but I wonder how they’d hold up in the SoCal heat. I don’t feel very confident in them.
Mdege’s brackets look good but rare if available at all.
The Vintage Speed bracket does not work for pressed bumpers as stated on their webpage.
So, npbusguys fabricating a bracket is what I’ll go for. I don’t like how low to the street his sits and Ill try to get something up on the bumper like mdege’s. _________________ Dang this Type II thing has gotten expensive! |

In case it helps anyone, my front bumper had holes drilled above centre at the correct width apart. I suspect it’s a reproduction bumper. Rather than fold over the plate or have it stick out, I just bent up a simple set of brackets and put a rubber washer on each side to protect the bumper paint. Now it hangs straight.

I made mine from 1" flat iron bar stock, 1/4" nuts and bolts with nyloc nuts. Just fab up a T or H shape, drill out and attach to splash pan.this _________________ "A life of peace and happiness depends on your own gratefulness" |

I made a plinth out of aluminium, the four screws in the photo are to attach the plate to the plinth. I have bonded the plinth to the bumper as I couldn't bring myself to drill holes in my newly chromed bumper
