John has had that for a few years, it needed most of the camper gear...
And everything is for sale at some point. _________________ Tom

Heres a 61 deluxe a Chevy friend found while buying some cars he saw on offer up. He bought it because it was cheap he said. He knows Im into busses and offered it to me for a great price.
Sad little 61 low hinge 15. Roof had shit stacked on it. he rescued from its shed where it had been stored since the early 80s when the motor caught on fire. Roof will need some work but she is pretty solid so I finally got me another bullet deluxe.

So this is the 3rd 15 window bus you have picked up in the last 16 months? Save some for the rest of us. Congratulations, nice score. |
Whats the build date on that late 61 15?
Nice find! |

It looks super shiny in the pic but looks cracked in the close up. Still nicer than most of mine.
Weird, I don't see a clutch pedal but maybe it's on the floor and hidden by the column and dirt and leaves
It looks like someone just removed the radio block off too _________________ How to Post Photos

What's the story behind the find/hunt Lind? |
Not all that exciting. It popped up on los angeles craigslist, and a buddy of mine turned me onto it. I was first in line, the flipper said more people were calling offering more money, so he upped the price, then he claimed the deal fell through and he couldn't get the bus to begin with. I figure that he just went with a high offer. There were plenty of phone calls as he slowly flaked out. I was set to buy a plane ticket and fly in tonight to make the deal. I'm not particularly surprised if a random craigslist flipper decides to take higher offers and maximize their profit. I don't really care if I miss any bus because there are so many more out there. I wish these things were worthless again. When I got into this hobby, that bus would be a $500 car on a good day. Near impossible to find that particular model, but $500 when you did find such a bus. |
Inside story on the two 15's ( one double door) is: the flipper is from orange county and rode his Harley up for sturgis. while he was there he got into a conversation with a local that mentioned he had two buses that have been sitting on his property for years. he rode out and struck the deal and had them moved to a local friends place. being from Huntington beach area he knew Aggie but didnt have his # because he had recently gotten a new phone so he went ahead and listed them on CL and then made a few calls and got aggies # from a mutual friend. once he told aggie about them it was a done deal. I can tell you that they did go for slightly over the asking price but not much and he did have higher offers over the phone but chose to go with someone whom he had former business relations with. Greg is super stoked to have the bus and will be leaving it in OG paint despite he reputation for restoring everything and turning them into 23 windows . He knows better on this one. |

How much was that $500 DD 15W listed for? |
listed at 39K |
That's big money for a rusty bus nerd bus. |
just for clarification there were two 15 windows. A 59 in OG paint that was really solid but had some roof damage on the passenger side and the 60 dd 15, he was selling them as a pair for 40k. the 59 will be for sale on this site by the end of next week |

GOOOOOOD MORNING THE SAMBA !!!
I always wanted to post something on this topic.
At last I can officially say I am the proud owner of this 1967 21 Window. It has sliding door.
After my first horrible experience as a VW owner, I didn't want to hear anymore about aircooled, but last year I started thinking about this Deluxe I found 10 years ago.
I called the owners and I made a visit to them. We talked about 10 years ago and man was impressed I remembered some details about his bus and his way of life. He didn't want to sell the bus, but his children and wife told him he would never put it back on the road again.
Both, husband and wife, were really tough in negotiation. In fact, there was no negotiation. I had to pay the price ( quite lower than 10years ago ).
It is not a big deal, but a really correct price for the insane market. As I wasn't that decided at the beginning, I talked too much around, and owners told me they had several visits since I started dropping by.
So, under pressure, I took it.
Due to a brake problem, they parked it and never fixed it.
So we took it from the barn. We changed:
- Brake shoes, some elements of cylinders and flexibles
- Clutch disk
- Ignition and distributor (electronic now)
- Muffler
- Tires
- We put in a battery
Time for pictures.
