Pushkick, have you tried E85 in your Van?
I've used E85 very, very close to 100% in my 89. It had been sitting for about 18 months and would not start when I purchased it. I got it running but with a lot of rough idle, even after replacing sensors, plugs, etc. So, I decided to dump in some fuel additives. After looking at price, contents, snake oil syndrome, etc., I thought well, maybe a dose or two of E85 would do just as good. The engine did improve performance. However, the richer blend knocked off MPGs and power. But, today, it starts and idles just fine.
I'm sure the Digifant system was doing some adjusting to deal with the swing in variables that the E85 brought on. _________________ '84 Vanagon Tin-top, ALH TDI. 1989 Tin-top

Yes check with GW. Some standalone systems have a sensor to determine the E85 mix ratio and can adjust. GW can advise you if their system has that capability.
Otherwise as a rule, you could run E85 with a stock VW system, but I would expect you'd need to increase the fuel pressure with an adjustable regulator, or larger injectors to get similar power, which should lessen the mpg some. _________________ ☮️ |
