After tig welding it in it has to planshied out so to do the job right I simply cut the inner quarter and swung it forward to get in there, as you can see form the backside the welds are fully penotrated and planished flat.

In the door jam I pushed it around to straighten the upper jam out and tig welded silicon bronze to smooth out the over lapping seams.

I moved down to the lower quarter now I’m able to get in and lightly work the weld checking it with my gauges to make sure it’s not getting over stretched everything was metal filled and sanded in 80g

So I moved on to the section above the decklid and again removed the lead and cut along the inside edge of the spot weld cause there’s to many to drill out, but I did drill out the inner since there where a hand full.

I carefully ground over the spot welded section and the acid is still active in between the panels and rusting it out.

I sprayed metal prep to kill the rust and sprayed POR15 in every hole, nook, and cranny and on the inside of the quarter until it ran threw every seams I could get to, to stop the rusting in between sections.

I sprayed it with weld threw primer and just lined it back up and welded it back on, as you can see in the picture I eliminated the lap seam and but jointed it cause later when I put in the tack strip I’ll be leading over the nails. I also welded in the section under the wood tack strip that I cut before it to the blaster and spot welded the top edge as factory did.

Could you tell some more about this? Tig welding with silicon bronze, how it works? Some a special filling rod?

Sure no problem Silicon bronze is a low-lead brass alloy that is generally composed of 96 percent copper. The remainder can be made from silicon and a variety of other alloys such as manganese, tin, iron, or zinc. Silicon Bronze is known for its easy pouring ability, appealing surface finish and superior corrosion resistant properties, even when submerged in liquids and chemicals. it’s basically like brass for tig welding but no flux is needed, I really like using it for low heat stuff like small rust holes so it doesn’t blow out, it’s not good for strength like roll bars or high stress areas. It comes in different rod diameters hope this helps out Bryan.

Blasted the section clean and ran it threw my Planishing hammer to put the right radius back in it

Again I sprayed the shit out of it in POR15 I use a couple different types of tips to get into all the areas, I have a cavity end that’s about 1.5 foot long and sprays in a 360 deg circle and shove it in every hole it can fit to try and stop the rusting and prevent as much as possible.

Moved forward and cut out a small strip on the outside of the wood tack strip and the lap weld on top.

Made a new section and tack it in place than cut and swung the inner out of the way and did some light hammer work and cleaned the complete weld area as best I could have.

After fully tig welding it I used my Planishing hammer on a hand held yoke to work out the weld cause no matter what you do or put behind it, it shirks.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

After that I did a quick fill to make sure it’s flat and in the right shape, I sanded the back of the panel as best and again sprayed POR15, cause I want to get into all the tight seams and there is light putting that in those spots is impossible to remove so I fell that the POR15 is the best for the situation
