I can pick up a full Mullholland kit for $200.
I really just want oversized rear fenders and am looking for an excuse to buy the whole kit.

I can use the rear fenders no problem, and if I didn't like the vega tailights I think it would be within my skillset to make them smooth and install my '39 ford tailights.

The front fenders are a no go with the square lights.

I think I could make the front ones rounded off and smooth with no problem, but getting the headlight cutouts right is beyond my skill set.
I thought of maybe leaving them smooth and rounded without headlights and mounting lights to my bumper, or maybe adding some fender mounted 1940s suburban lights. Looking at the photos the suburban lights might just fit over the mulholland squares.
I do have a set of baja fenders with lights and I might be able to cut those out and glass into the Mullholland fenders.

What are your thoughts on this?

Here are those 1940 suburban lights I was talking about.

Personally, I think you are going to end up with a confused stylistic mishmash that looks substantially worse than just leaving your car as-is, or using the full Mulholland kit as-is.

The Mulholland look is a part of history. Don't try to "fix" what made it cool. If you just want cheap wide fenders, there are far better ways to get them than starting with a Mulholland kit and cutting them up.

Filling the holes is not real bad if you have any experience with fiberglass. But adding buckets is a bit more involved. And then your Suburban lights probably dont match the contour if your fenders.

When its all said and done, you are gonna have a lot of work and its probably not going to look real good. There are nice glass fenders out there and you would probably be better off getting a set of stock headlight ones...
