I'm looking to buy new pistons and cylinders for my 78 transporter. Going to stay with the standard 94mm lower compression kit.
Sure there are multiple brands to choose from. Who makes the best kit for the money.
Are the AA kits any good. I hear they are Chinese. |

it's all Chinese these days...well, 99% is. AA's seem to be ok, but they had a run of crappy rings.
sadly, it seems to be you need to mix and match stuff these days. _________________

Thanks for the correction. I used to be a nice guy, then I ruined it by exposing myself to the public. |

Dito I had to run a set in my 2L I couldn't afford the good ones (mahle) these I used are forged but I did replace the rings. I have over 20'000 on them and they burned a quart of oil pre 1000 miles for sometime but now its about 2000 miles pre so Iam happy with that. _________________ where its cold and snowy |

have a set of dished 2.0L P/Ls from AA Piston.
31k+,no issues. They are Chinese manufacture, balanced/finish machined
in California. Think they were $249. delivered.
Ratings wise: 9/10. They sent type 1 piston pins with a Type IV piston set. : (
That was corrected with one phone call/email? (can't recall which)hence 9/10
rating. |

I found a set of NPR pistons and cylinder here on Samba a while back and they seem fine. Better than Chinese I think... _________________ 77 Westy - Cape Cod Sage
