Have an 82 caddy and need to set the injection pump timing. Read somewhere that the later timing is different than the earlier pump timing. Is that the case? And if so what are the timing specs for an 82?

I time mine at .90mm

With things out of spec, you say what's best. Pump internal pressure and spring advance affect the timing a lot. Also injector break pressures.
Whatever starts the engine quickly with the least rattle at idle is what you listen for.

In the beginning mine had a rough idle and rattled the same at different timings.
I could never really tell what timing was best until I fixed and balanced my injectors.
You gotta have a pop tester to check em.

Followed your advice. Purchased a pop tester. Rebuilt the injectors and set the pump to 90 with the proper Bosch pump micrometer . Will update after running it. Still have a bit more work before it’s ready.

Started it before finishing assembly. Ran strong and smooth. Very happy with it.
