I found one just like this. Do you know who the manufacturer was?

Here's a Hazet style assistant tool caddy made by another company. I have seen and owned a few of these Hazet copies Here's one I found today at a local swap meet. It looks like new. It has the rubber bumpers and the tray dividers and the book rack. 2 wheels swivel and lock. This Assistant collapses and can be put it the trunk for easy transportation. No rust or damage anywhere.

I recently picked up this all blue Hazet Assistent, with blue top tray and blue pre-65 Hazet logoes:
Does anyone know anything about these? Why all blue? What year/s were they built?
I've only found 1 other on this thread, the 2nd one in Wout's line-up:

Haha. Of course it's a post-65. Sorry, had a brain fart.
This one may have been repainted, but it doesn't look like it, and the colour match is spot on. I'll have a closer look for signs of respray.
Pretty much ALL formal houses in South Africa are walled and gated unless they're in gated estates. The whole country's a bad neighbourhood. _________________ fig

To the Hazet experts: is there any way to accurately date a Hazet Assistent?
I know the logo changed in 1965 and at some stage after German reunification, "Made in W Germany" changed to "Made in Germany".
When were Continetal tyres discontinued?
When did the top tray change to black from grey/silver?
When was the stool discontinued?
When did the pressed Hazet logo change to the stuck-on plastic version?
Any other changes that might assist in dating these?
My latest Assistent, above, has post-1965 logo, Continental tyres and has the hole for storing the stool. Any ideas how old it is?
My other Assistent has a black top tray and Made in Germany, so probably from the 1990s, yes? _________________ fig

Have one stool at home, will give it a try in a few days to reproduce one. It's a lot smaller than I imagined...

To answer this set of question for 1964 & older from my experience;
All early tops are Painted Gray with a crinkle coat type paint. There is the typical curved/arched top & the very early flat top. There is also the first generation of the flat top with a lock in the side where the rubber goes. Those I would guess are 1954-55 only. The flat top without the lock is most likely 1956-59.
The rubber for the flat top tray carts has this style rubber;
This is the rubber for arched type top tray carts;
Next there is a progression of the vertical tube supports on the middle trays.
Oldest style, 1954-1956?;
second style, 1957-59;
Third style, this may have only been for the accessory tray to change a 161 into a 162 after the fact. 1957-59?;
Fourth style, 1960-64? This is usually with the arched top tray.;
Flat top tray carts also usually have this style vertical pole support in the bottom tub;
There is also 2 types of labeling tags. The very early carts (1954-1956) have small tags on the middle trays;
Still during the flat top cart era the tag became larger & moved to the front of the bottom tub. 1957 & newer?;
Even the caster wheels show some differences during the years. The first generation had no lock on the caster wheels. (1954-55);
Next one caster wheel received a plain lock band. (1956-57)?;
Then the one caster wheel received an arm on the side to make it easier to reach. (1958-1968)?;
Last thing I will note in this posting is the logo on the bottom tub. It started out as a stamped piece of metal that is spot welded to the bottom tub before it was ever painted. (1954-1963)?
Then Hazet went to stamping their logo directly into the bottom tub. This also continued into the earliest big "A" carts until Hazet went back to a separate metal logo that was attached with double sided tape & then on to the plastic Hazet logo.
I have noticed more differences in the carts I have owned but am not sure of the chronology. The above list of changes I am pretty confident of the timeline I have listed as being 80-90% accurate. Please correct me if anyone feels I am wrong. _________________ Home of the one true split Bus Motorhome |

I bought this in our local hardware store. 17mm would have been better but is not available.
